The entire trip will take a few weeks! We will head to Fairbanks, Alaska where we will stock up on snacks and mini-meals for the first leg of our adventure... Canada. We will now be driving straight through Canada to Vancouver, BC. I'm currently staying up nights so Cody and I can take turns driving and the other can sleep. We can't pull over and sleep anywhere because of the cold. In fact, we packed all of our liquids and gels last, just in case we do stop at a hotel. That way we can take them in with us and they won't explode all over the truck! The temperatures will be as low as -20 degrees some nights.
We are also taking a couple of gas cans and strapping them to the back of my Explorer. We are going a different route and are not sure where gas will be available. The longest stretch of road I saw on a map (without a town of any consequence on it) was 700 miles long! So we will be toting at least 20 gallons of gas on the back of the truck to save us from lack of gas stations. Driving 55 MPH will get us better gas miliage but we'd rather be safe than sorry!
Once we cross into northwestern Washington, we will spend a couple of days in Seattle before heading to Eureka, California to see a friend of ours with terminal lukemia of the spine and brain. San Francisco is the next stop on the agenda! Cody has never been to San Fran and I have been there 3 or 4 times. We're going to tour Ghiradelli Square, the piers, and Chinatown before heading out of town.
From there, we will make out way to Utah. Thanksgiving with the Dunne family at Erik & Cheryl's and our wedding reception in Orem are the two major events. We have a lot of loose ends to tie up in Utah. I have to relocate my toolbox from the College of Eastern Utah's automotive lab as well as a variety of items of mine from the ceramics lab. We have yet to figure out where we can put these items as my storage unit is filled to the brim. I am sure something will work out.
Happily, my parents will be attending the Utah reception! They will also bring my younger sister, Deana, and her daughter, Lucy. They plan on leaving Kentucky the day after Thanksgiving. Hopefully they will have good weather for the trip!
After our reception in Orem, we will hit the road again, possibly traveling to Oklahoma to visit Cody's sister, Heather. That isn't certain yet. Cody still needs to call his sister and find out if a visit would be convienient for her and her family.
The final destination of 2008 will be my parents' house in Kentucky! There, we will enjoy our final wedding reception and Christmas. We are not entirely sure of our plans for 2009, but we will start them with an amazing adventure!!!

wow that sounds like quite the trip!! I'm kinda jealous lol, not the staying awake all night driving through canada part but all the great places you get to visit :) What an amazing way to start out your marriage :) :)
